MISSION STATEMENT
The Knox Historical Society was formed to preserve, protect, and promote historic culture in the Town of Knox through our research, collection maintenance, website, publications, educational programs, and community outreach.
Our mission is accomplished by the following types of actions:
  1. To research, inventory and study past historical events.
  2. To document historical findings in appropriate ways.
  3. To maintain the collection at the Saddlemire Homestead and update the display and exhibiting of its historical artifacts.
  4. To communicate the historical findings to the residents of the Town of Knox.
  5. To educate the youth of today in the lessons learned from the past.
  6. To promote diversity in terms of historical and cultural programs to attract the interest of a wide group of Knox residents to serve as members of the Knox Historical Society and interest an even wider group of residents to attend events and presentations sponsored by the Society.
  7. To plan and implement community-based activities and events having historical significance.
  8. To design and institute management-oriented techniques that will maximize the effectiveness of the Society as an organization.
